and p.s, either the autogenerated reddit embed code is garbage and no one’s said anything (I mean, I’m also too lazy to bother doing anything about it), or Squarespace (being autistic) simply throws its hands up and makes unintelligible gestures when faced with anything that mildly resembles “custom” or “third-party” code/content. I had to scrounge around the internet for a really long time to find this handy Oembed converter. (you don’t even need the html/CSS script.)
